A Message from Christina
My family's hot sauce recipe was created in a refugee camp in the Philippines during our almost three years there. Our neighbors were the other remaining few of the 127 people who embarked on a terrifying ocean voyage from Vietnam, hoping to arrive in the US. The group survived two weeks adrift in the South China Sea, three separate pirate attacks where 18 young women were captured and taken away (all of whom have yet to be found), and the boat sinking before being rescued by the nearby US Navy and taken to refugee in the Philippines. After all these hardships, my family still made it to the land of opportunity.
Fulfilling the Dream
My signature Christina's Hot Sauce and succeeding spicy products are the realization of a childhood dream. I learned the importance of using high-quality ingredients, paying attention to detail, and incorporating love into the food-making process. To me, they are more than just hot sauces. They are hope in a bottle, a reminder of the struggles and uncertainty we faced and overcame as refugees, and a tribute to all the precious moments we shared in refugee camp.
